During this youth filmmaking shoot for young people aged 12-16yrs old & facing socioeconomic barriers & with support needs, I was an Art Dept. or Production Design Mentor, working closely with 4-5 young people in this specialist role. The brief was to support the young people to create and three key spaces on location at Cooke's Studios in Barrow; a recording studio for a local DJ, and a dining room & and activist teenagers' bedroom, from scratch in addition to creating protest placards for an exterior. The young people led creative decisions on adjusting the space from a brief design, which needed to incorporate the a range of vintage mixing desks and a good sense of depth. The sense of protest created was so believable, passersby honked horns from passing cars or stopped to ask what the protest was about.
